Montenegro aligns visa regime with EU standards: New requirements from November 2026

Aleksandar Maljkovic
Country Manager

Montenegro is set to introduce new visa requirements for citizens of Belarus, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and several other countries from 1 November 2026, as part of the country’s continued alignment with EU visa policy.

The new regime will be accompanied by changes designed to make the visa application process more accessible and efficient, including the possibility of submitting applications through VFS Visa Application Centers in a growing number of countries. Montenegro is also working on a modern Visa Information System aligned with EU and Schengen standards, with the introduction of an electronic visa system planned as a future step. These developments are expected to simplify the application process while strengthening Montenegro’s broader visa and border management framework.

Eurofast’s Take

For businesses and individuals affected by the upcoming changes, understanding the new requirements and application procedures will be important when planning travel or relocation to Montenegro.
