We are looking to recruit a dynamic, career-oriented individual to join our Zagreb office in the Payroll and Employment Division as a Senior Payroll & Accounting Specialist.
Job description:
Payroll & Compliance
- Process monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with local legislation
- Calculate salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, taxes, and employee benefits
- Prepare and submit all statutory payroll reports to relevant authorities
- Monitor and interpret changes in payroll and employment legislation
- Respond to employee and management payroll-related queries
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare payroll reconciliations, management reports, and ad hoc analyses
- Generate regular and customized reports based on client requirements
- Analyze financial and payroll data to support decision-making
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate accounting records and business books
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial statements and assist in budgeting processes
- Monitor income, expenses, and overall financial performance
- Manage accounting entries related to payroll and ensure proper integration with financial records
Client Advisory & Representation
- Provide advisory support on payroll, labor, and employment matters
- Represent clients before relevant institutions and authorities
- Develop a strong understanding of clients’ financial needs and business operations
Controls, Audits & Processes
- Assist with tax returns, tax audits, and compliance requirements
- Contribute to internal and external audit processes
- Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls
- Maintain records of fixed assets and support documentation processes (where applicable)
- Manage cash register operations and reporting, if required
- Support accounts receivable and payable processes, including supplier and customer balances
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in payroll processing
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a relevant field
- Fluent in English and Croatian
- Experience working with international/multinational companies
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Good knowledge of Pantheon ERP or other accounting software
