Investment Opportunities in Georgia

Located in the Caucasus region, Georgia is a true gateway between Europe and Asia.  In recent years, the country has achieved impressive progress in improving the business climate by implementing extensive reforms, a fact supported by international researches and well-documented in a number of international indices. Georgia is considered a politically stable, corruption-free investment destination with low business costs, simple business registration and straightforward tax structure.

Potential investment sectors:

Hospitality and Real estate – Due to its location and rich natural and cultural resources, Georgia offers a wide range of various resorts for any season: from the Black Sea in the summer and the skiing resorts in the winter to the unique SPA destination Tskaltubo and the springs in Borjomi and Sairme, Georgia truly has immense potential for development of hotel, leisure, office, retail and residential premises.

Energy – Electricity consumption continues to rise thus creating great opportunity to develop new power plants. And with the presence of fast-flowing rivers and high mountains, Georgia has a competitive advantage over the neighboring countries in terms of export opportunities.

Manufacturing – With a natural advantage of being a bridge between Asia and Europe, competitive labour and low energy costs, low taxes, a corruption free environment, as well as numerous free trade agreements, Georgia provides many benefits to investments in food processing, packaging, production of chemicals and household goods, perfumes and cosmetics and building materials.

Logistics – Due to its highly strategic location, Georgia is a historical corridor for transportation between Europe and Asia.  Between 60% and 90% of cargo flow in Georgia is transit between the east and the west. Out of the three main roads from Europe to Asia, the road through Georgia is the most reliable and secure. Due to the stable political and economic climate, the Caucasian corridor is becoming more and more attractive for businesses. Customs clearance is fast and efficient, while transit is free of tax.

Agriculture – Georgia has 22 micro-climates allowing for longer harvesting seasons and a variety of growing conditions perfect for producing a wide range of grapes, other fruits, nuts and vegetables. With widely available water resources, access to government grants, affordable labour and low utility costs, Georgia is a perfect place to invest into agriculture.

Georgia is a regional center located on the shortest route between Europe and Asia. International visitors enjoy easy access by three international airports (Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi), a modern railway system and a liberalized visa regime. Georgia has a Visa Free regime with citizens of 94 countries while holders of valid multi visas or/and residence permits of 50 countries may enter and stay in Georgia for 90 days within a one-year period.
