PROGRAM AND QUALIFICATIONS

This program is offered according to the Act on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria. Such a program called Investor Program for Residency and Citizenship is considered as a fast-track citizenship option. The program is as well known as one of the fastest programs to lead to residency.

In order to become a citizen or resident, applicant has to:

• Posses a valid passport
• Hold no criminal record
• Provide documents supporting the origin of investment funds
• Attest the POA and investment agreement
• Makes a mandatory trips to Bulgaria
• Be a NON-EU citizen

Regarding the investment, there are following options:

• Full Investment

Requires deposit BGN 1 million in a Governmental Bond Portfolio for an investment period of five years with no further payment required. At the end of the five-year period, the full amount will be returned to the investor without any accrued interest.

• Financed Investment

Clients can choose to finance the required investment amount through a European bank.

FAST TRACK OPTION TO BECOME A CITIZEN

Doubling the investment, allows investors to apply for citizenship faster. Such investment requires following:

• Double the investment by purchasing €512,000 in government bonds or in the capital of a Bulgarian company that is carrying out a Priority Investment Project (as defined in the Investment Promotion Act).
• In addition, to hold a second investment for a period of two years
• At least of 1 year permanent residency status required

PERMANENT RESIDENCY HOLDERS AND THE RIGHT TO APPLY FOR A CITIZENSHIP

Bulgarian Citizenship Act allows foreign investors that hold a permanent residency status for at least five years to apply for Bulgarian citizenship. In addition to that, they have to fulfill the following criteria:

• Not interrupted permanent residency status and valid address for the past five years
• Have clear criminal record in Bulgaria
• Be over 18 years old

Montenegro

• Invest EUR450,000 in the approved project in a developed region

ROMANIA

But, if the applicant is already citizen of EU, or has the status of refugee, or the applicant has invested significant amount exceeding 1,000,000 EUR in the country the terms stated above can be reduced to half, which in a way makes it as a faster option.
